JKL's Newest NBCTs

JKL's NBCTsMaintained Certification!Congratulations to our newest National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs), Erin Heyboer and Tara Allison. Their dedication and hard work have earned them the highest standard of certification in the teaching profession, an accomplishment achieved through rigorous evaluation and deep personal commitment.

We also proudly acknowledge Sara Stec, Cathy Wilkinson, Cara Tazelaar, and Alison Innerebner who successfully maintained their NBCT status following the December 7th score release. Their ongoing commitment to excellence ensures that our students continue to receive an education of the highest quality.

Additionally, we are excited to have several additional teachers currently as candidates for National Board Certification. These educators are deeply engaged in the comprehensive certification process, demonstrating their commitment to achieving educational excellence and professional growth.

These achievements contribute to a significant milestone for JKL Bahweting Anishinaabe School: 14 of our 44 teachers are now NBCTs, representing an impressive 32% of our faculty. This is the highest percentage of NBCTs at any school in the state of Michigan. Achieving National Board Certification involves a comprehensive review of a teacher’s practice, which includes completing four components that demonstrate their expertise in content knowledge, differentiation in instruction, and the creation of effective and responsive learning environments. This process also requires demonstrating the impact of their teaching on student learning and growth.

Our distinguished NBCTs are Tara Allison, Greg Chromy, Janna Deneau, Micheal Gordon (not pictured), Rhonda Heal, Erin Heyboer, Tan-A Hoffman, Alison Innerebner, Cara Tazelaar, Barb Rogers, Jaci McDowell, Susan Solomon, Sara Stec, and Cathy Wilkinson. Their dedication to the profession is not just a benefit to their own careers but a testament to the culture of excellence we nurture at our school.

The presence of so many certified teachers enriches the educational experiences we offer, ensuring that our practices are not only effective but also rooted in a deep understanding of how students learn best. Our school remains committed to a mission of educational excellence, integrating Anishinaabe cultural values and traditions in ways that respect and uplift our community’s heritage.

We are immensely proud of our NBCTs for setting a standard of excellence and professionalism that inspires their colleagues and students alike. Congratulations to all our National Board Certified Teachers and candidates for this incredible achievement and for their unwavering dedication to the highest standards of teaching.
